"Curiously parallel": analogies of language and race in Darwin's Descent of man. A reply to Gregory Radick. Stud Hist Philos Biol Biomed Sci. 2008 Sep;39(3):355-8 Authors: Alter SG In the second chapter of The descent of man (1871), Charles Darwin interrupted his discussion of the evolutionary origins of language to describe ten ways in which the formation of languages and of biological species were 'curiously' similar. I argue that these comparisons served mainly as analogies in which linguistic processes stood for aspects of biological PMID: 18761287 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]  The TS-Si Research Service consolidates information on research initiatives and findings relevant to the misalignment of brains and anatomical sex. The service tracks key scientific and medical developments from early consideration of research opportunities and published findings through practical application in clinical settings.Researchers and students from qualifying institutions regularly receive special emailings from TS-Si that consist of abstracts and other materials that support their interest areas.
