DNA Blueprints Guide The Construction Of Specific Human Structures

Chad Mirkin discusses using DNA to build a three-dimensional structure out of gold, likening the process to building a house. Starting with basic materials such as bricks, wood, siding, stone and shingles, a construction team can build many different types of houses out of the same building blocks.

xkcd is a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.
TS-Si Tangent Wits
Mountain View, CA, USA. If you feel your head going all spongy, perhaps you have read too little of xkcd (or too much). Anyway, it appears here as a regular feature. The webcomic's creator, Randall Patrick Munroe (17 Oct 1984) is a self-described "pen/pencil operator" and programmer best known for creating his webcomic.

Munroe has sequence in his life. The last we heard, it goes something like this:
  1. Achieve birth in Easton, Pennsylvania

  2. Grow up in Chesterfield, Virginia

  3. Graduate from Christopher Newport University (CNU) with a degree in physics (2006)

  4. Work as a NASA contractor before and after graduation

  5. Don't get your contract renewed in 2006

  6. Write xkcd full-time

  7. Acquire additional support by selling T-shirts and related merchandise

  8. Seek release in kite photography: attach cameras to kites and take pictures of the ground or buildings.
Munroe on Munroe. "I'm just this guy, you know? I'm a CNU graduate with a degree in physics. Before starting xkcd, I worked on robots at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia. As of June 2007 I live in Massachusetts. In my spare time I climb things, open strange doors, and go to goth clubs dressed as a frat guy so I can stand around and look terribly uncomfortable. At frat parties I do the same thing, but the other way around."
