Springfield, VA, USA. Well actually, he said Jewish science, but you get the idea – we’ve had our first anti-Semitic comment from a New York white guy (most likely) who spoofed a Mideast location and signed himself Abdul (a phony name if there ever was one).
His problem? He apparently thinks TS-Si.org runs too many articles that feature the research of scientists with Jewish sounding names.
His comment was a reaction to a TS-Si.org article [1] on the findings of researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science that appeared in the journal Nature Methods. The researchers’ names were Rafi Haddad, David Harel, Rehan Khan, Kensaku Mori, Noam Sobel, and Yuji K Takahashi.
I was born and raised in California and I haven’t a clue most times what constitutes a Jewish name. I’m better at Japanese names (some of my Japanese Golden State coworkers were placed in internment camps during World War II by white and black Americans grasping at anything that might make them feel more secure). I am pretty sure that Mori and Takahashi are not Jewish unless they were converts and I have no idea how one might determine that.
As for the rest of the names, Haddad and Harel might be Arabs but I will concede that I am leaning towards Noam as a possible Jewish first name (although it could be just another Ellis Island misspelling of Noramili) but Sobel I am back to clueless (French perhaps). The only obvious researcher name is Khan [2], who is a product of 20th century genetic engineering and thus has no associable ethnic background.
I’m guessing that “Abdul” was upset by one of three words:
Weizmann,
Institute,
Or
Science.
Undoubtedly “Abdul” pronounced Weizmann, Wise Man, and took it as a personal aspersion impugning his mental capacities and emotional age. An aspersion is defined as a damaging or derogatory remark, a criticism, or a slander; impugning is a false or questionable attack or a challenge. I see no slander or attack as to “Abdul’s” status as a wise man. I think we can all come to our own conclusion as to how wise “Abdul” may be.
As a woman it is difficult for me to understand a man's sensitivity to any slur on his virility or his intellect. If there were any intentional aspersions impugning “Abdul’s” intellectual virility (or lack of it), I’m certain it is just a small matter of male misunderstandings. Any harm to either his intellect or his virility is certainly of minor significance.
I can better understand if the word Institute caused “Abdul’s” problems. No one likes to have someone poke fun at their home or family. This is how fights start in grammar school and why packs of boys run the streets protecting the manhood of their bros from even the slightest imagined transgression.
I don’t think this is the core problem, however: we no longer call them institutes. I’m not certain what we call homes for people like “Abdul” but they are not institutes anymore. Perhaps he was put off by all the vowels or maybe his religious beliefs are morally offended by the sight of the word tit (look hard).
That leaves us with one word
Science
as the offending party, the trigger that set off “Abdul’s” white supremist declarations.
why so much jewish science? what does that prove?
Yes, I believe “Abdul’s” problem is science.
White supremists believe that the white race (actually sort of pallid pink race) are superior to all other racial groups (colloquially known as black, yellow, red, brown, sort of golden or reddish olive, too tan, or green – Martians Beware!) [3].
They know this because their mothers and fathers told them so.
Who dare raise a doubt that a race that repeatedly gives us people like “Abdul” is superior to everyone else (except perhaps the Thetans)? I mean it should be obvious, isn’t it?
“Abdul” and the rest of the white supremists (or black ones, Japanese ones, or any other other ones) have good reason for being upset with modern Science. They have no rationale left for their virulent self-identity.
“Race”, like “Abdul’s” name is a fiction.
We made it up.
Whole cloth.
It doesn’t exist.
At best, the human species is divided into different ethnic groups but the best science can find no significant differences between those who claim to be white and those the Victorian’s termed the “inferior” races. Underneath our skin, we are all the same.
I mean how can we be different races? We breed freely and enthusiastically with each other. The human species has sex like bunny rabbits (or more to the point, like Bonobos). White penises fit nicely into black vaginas. One of my British Isle Great-something-Grandfather’s was placed quite regularly in my Iroquois Great-something-Grandmother.
We are one single species that comes in a variety of flavors depending on the sunlight our ancestor’s received AND the sunlight that our descendents will receive. Everything else, as Penn and Teller would say, is Bullshit. Race, as we think we know it, is transient and dependent more on geography and culture than actual physical differences.
That’s what research into the human genome has shown. That’s the science that upsets the white and black and Japanese supremacist. Once we strip away our social pretence, we are all much more like each other than are we different.
And what does the Race Supremist do once Science has ripped his race from his flesh and bones? How does he feel superior when his threats and intimidations are met by opposition instead of meek submission? Why not hate the Jews (Christ Killers!) or take it out on homosexuals (Faggots!).
Or, as “Abdul” does, too much of a coward to post under his own name, send an anonymous post to TS-Si.
We expect all kinds and we get them. I imagine we might receive some colorful rants in response to this column. I’m not worried, there are more of us then there are of them and I believe whole heartedly in the truth of Woody Guthrie:

Hell, at various times, all three of my presumptively “white” kids have been asked if they were mixed or challenged why they were trying to “pass.” I believe my birth certificate said “caucasian” at one time, but back then the only other choices were black or oriental.

I did not get the surgery to have sex. Nor did I get it for legal recognition. When I got SRS neither of those were a guaranteed matter. I signed a surgical consent form which acknowledged I might never climax again. I was in a good relationship. The legal issues were still being worked out.
