<description>And Pamela, no matter how you where born you now are in tune both physially and mentally. You are not an abstraction or the discriptive ideal and understanding of someone else. You have crossed the path to reach the life to which you belonged. You, like many of us, do not hide our inner sex any longer, we live it to the fullest and hopefully we all do so without being equated with others who move in and out of gender variations. I am proud to know each and everyone of you brave women.

			<title>TG's/CD's and Gender Queer</title>
			<link>http://ts-si.org/global-warning/3253-federated-identification-legal-papers-and-transgender-ids.html#comment-795</link>
<description>I have noticed that the ones that complain most about ID's are the CD's,TG's and the Gender Queer that have NO intention of ever transitioning completely including SRS. They want to live and present as &quot;female&quot; whilst retaining their male genitalia; ditto with the FtM TG's and CD's too. Look at that one twit that whilst &quot;claiming&quot; to be a &quot;Transman&quot; got pregnant so SHE could have a baby-- can you imagine issuing a &quot;male&quot; ID to something like that. I also read on another site about a &quot;transsexual ??&quot; that whilst living and 'presenting' as a female for 12 years has no intention of ever getting SRS and &quot;cross dresses&quot; as a male to help his wifes career and for some family event-- he aint no TS that's for sure, just a CD in the likeness of Virginia Prince.
While transitioning, I got stopped by the PD a couple of times and got asked if I were female or male ( I was dressed as a female but my DL was still male) I had a letter from my therapist -Dr David Bloodgood - that explained the issue clearly and it was accepted without question and I was addressed as &quot;Ma'am&quot; and Miss. The officer ( a Seminole County Deputy Sheriff) said the letter was a great thing to carry.
Now, Post-op, name changed, DL changed, SS and Medicare changed and a new Birth certificate from Virginia; I AM Pamela JS Dunn a woman.

<title>The Problem is really more with the TG's and Gender-Queers..</title>
			<link>http://ts-si.org/global-warning/3253-federated-identification-legal-papers-and-transgender-ids.html#comment-794</link>
<description>Then it is with the CD's.
At least this is the case in the larger cities.
The hand full of CD's i have known have no issue with their identity, it's the trannies and the gender queers who want different ID's.
The difference seems to be;
The average CD has no problem admitting he is a man in a dress.
The average TG lives in denial that he is a man in a dress.

Maybe it is a regional thing....
maybe west coast CD's and Trannys are different then elsewhere.

I have to agree; whats the big deal with real ID other then the constitutional issue it presents. We are not required to carry ID in ether California or Texas. when approached by a law enforcement public servant we do not have to identify ourselves unless the servant has probable cause and can demonstrate it. We already have a national identification card it is called a passport and is the root form of identification. I question the need for &quot;real ID&quot; when the southern border is wide open and nothing is being done to control the flow of people and things across that border.

We don't need any more oppressive laws; we need the laws we have enforced. Since 9/11 nothing has been done to increase border security while the Constitution has been eroded to the point many of us feel as if we are living in a fascist police state.

Take care
Sue

			<title>What's the Big Deal?</title>
			<link>http://ts-si.org/global-warning/3253-federated-identification-legal-papers-and-transgender-ids.html#comment-793</link>
			<description>Hi Lisa,

With regards to the TGs and real ID - what's the big deal? Why are they getting all bent out of shape? Like you mentioned, they don't feel crossdressing is wrong, so why are they upset if somebody finds out they're crossdressing, or for that matter, one of the so called &quot;non-op TSs.&quot; Gee most of us had to deal with the ID hassle when we were going through transition. Even having a drivers license with an F on it, will not necessarily prevent this. I know this first hand. In Oct. 2001, I was involved in a car accident on the freeway. I had been fulltime since Dec. 2000. My name was legally changed, and per what the the law allowed in my state, my Drivers License had an &quot;F&quot; in the sex desiganator, in spite of the fact that I wouldn't have my SAS from Suporn for another 2 years. It was raining hard, and the sheriffs deputy who was interviewing me about the accident, couldn't legally do the interview in my car. So, it was conducted in his squad car. The deputy had a radio link to the DOT computers (I saw the screen on the dashboard). I watched him go through my traffic record particulars. He also called up a menu labeled &quot;Previous Licenses Held.&quot; To my chagrin, plain as day, it SHOWED THE OLD NAME&quot;, and drivers license number. I inwardly groaned, expecting to get the business from the deputy. All he did, was let out a sigh, and continue the interview. And that was that. A correspondence with my erstwhile therapist via e-mail a few weeks later (I hadn't seen her in a while - as she put it, I really didn't have any problems that required therapy [financial matters, were not her forte' ;) ), gave me the info that drivers license records would include the old name probably until the day I died. Even having my birth certificate fixed (which I had done in early 2004), would not change this. So, I just said &quot;Oh well&quot;, and dealt with it.

My point is this, do CDs and TGs seem to think that they can have a ID that will magically hide that they are male from the world. That's delusional, even my past can come up in certain instances, in spite of corrected documents, including my Birth Certificate. Is it a case of if the world finds out they're male, the fun of putting on airs to being female (or male if they're Drag Kings) goes away, since they are &quot;no longer successfully fooling the world into thinking they are the opposite sex.&quot; So what. Get real. Thise of us who transitioned, had to deal with this on a daily basis. We got by. In most cases, if the situation was handled correctly, we had no problems. Sorry, I received no special treatment (and I had HBS), so neither should a CD, &quot;woman with a penis&quot;, or any other form of TG.

<description>You hit the nail on the head, Lisa.

A short tale: While in transition I was, along with a number of other drivers, pulled over at a highway road block. The police officer asked for my drivers license and automobile registration...normal procedure! When he looked at the license he told me to pull over to the side. Once there he asked me, &quot;why are you using a males license?&quot; I simply told him I was in transition and was scheduled for surgery in Sept. and required to live and work as a female but my license would not be changed until after surgery and I showed him the letter I had explaining the issue given me by the Erickson Foundation. I was not harassed nor was I insulted. He simply said, &quot;have a good evening and drive safely&quot;. That was it!

I was born in New York City and until recently only had an abbreviated birth certificate that was usually given to children that were adopted. It allowed me to get my passport, license's changed, marriage license, etc. It had no history of mother or father on the certificate, just a short form.

Then a couple of years ago the TG's tried to have the policy changed by the NYC Health Department so they, without surgery, could legally change their birth certificates. The Health Department in fact was in favor of doing the change until they got bombarded by hospital administrators, jail wardens, school superintendents and quite a few of us who had surgery objecting to such a change. Why did we care? To put it in perspective I filed a complaint because I did not want my birth certificate to be a transgender birth certificate which is exactly what would have happened. I was not a physical male projecting as a female so why should my application for a legal change be related to those who were was my thinking? I needed to be treated as a whole person not someone moving in and out of gender behaviors.

In the end the tg effort lost and thank God. The irony though was that the City of New York finally after 35 years issued me an amended full amended birth certificate with family names and information on it just as that given to any other female or male child.

I have no objection to someone getting some ID that might reflect their transition status like that in some states where if in transition a change of drivers license and other documents is allowed but the sex designation reverts back to birth sex if no surgery takes place within the set transition time-frame. Never should the basic document (birth certificate) be changed to suit someone moving in and out of gender identity yet in full possession of their birth genitalia and wishing to forever keep that evidence.

I don't care what someone wears and they should never be harmed for being what they are. But to insist upon legal status of one sex when fully intending to continue as their birth sex is a lifestyle as opposed to those who need corrective surgery to survive. It further confuses the public perception if we are compared to those who are, 'dissimilar but really only a little different'. Sorry, but that tg qualifier does not exist in my world.
