from South Pacific:

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, a young woman was in transition. Split from family and friends in an unfamiliar place. Her life turned upside down, she desperatly sought allies and in her naivity assumed that the most likely allie would be amongst those that were also repressed. When she went to call on them she was scorned, made fun of and told that she was delusional, that she would always be what she was born, that she should just accept the fact that she was in the closet. No help was offered, no support given, she quickly realised that she was looking for love in all the wrong places. She went about her life and soon found new friends among co-workers who helped her and supported her.

Thirty years later she would find herself in a gay area of town. She observed new transitioners being treated with the same disrespect she had experienced years ago. She would hear the demeaning "gurlzzzzz" from gay men intended to sound like being nice while simultaneously putting down the recipient as less than. She sat silent as a transitioning friend of hers was asked rudely if she was in drag, like it was this persons god given right to ridicule and demean.

Yes you have to be carefully taught.

In the case of the gay and lesbian community they perpetuate the dissassociation by their own actions. They carefully taught me not to look to them for support, and their actions to date that have married the "T" to their cause were never intended to recognize HBS Transsexuals, it was intended to merely bolster their numbers by including the so called transgender community, many of which are gay or bisexual to start with.

I say to hell with the LGBT! .. I will never support them in anything they do. They can kiss my A$$ ! That much they taught me, all by themself. - Leigh
