Which confirms to some extent my personal argument tht the patient MUST be actively involved in their own diagnosis and in this day of computer searches, go out and look for information regading their condition. When A CT scan showed that I had some very small spots on my lung (2-3 mm) I looked up the information on line and in some Medical/Surgical texts I had access to, when the poor young PA said, "It 'probably' wasn't cancer" I let him know in short order that "Probably" wasn't a very good percentage in my book. Result-- Referred to a pulmonary specalist, who after a thorough review of the CT scan said he doubted that it was cancer BUT recommended a follow-up CT scan every six months for 2 years to make sure. NOTE: having recently had my 18th month CT Scan, the spots have started to reduce in size and in his words"except in some very rare and unlikely event, it is unlikely to be cancer"; One more CT Scan and I'm in the clear. I haven't yet started working on the about the Adenoma on my right Adrenal gland-- I'm wondering if it is changing my Cortisteroidal output which is making it difficult for me to lose weight-- Hmmm, maybe a few lab tests will confirm that or put it to rest and make it obvious that I just don't push away from the table soon enough (But, But, I LIKE my cooking !! ).
Again one MUST be involved and PUSH their Doctor about problems and THAT is definitely NOT being a hypochrondiac.
